It's our pleasure to introduce you to City Kids Daycare Downtown!
From the tiniest fingers...
...To the brightest minds!

City Kids Downtown
INFANTS
Our infant program has fewer babies assigned to individual caregivers than required by state law. There is a daily schedule for older and more mature babies, while younger infants are on a “demand” schedule. Schedules are developed for each baby through input from parents and caregivers. The play and sleep areas are separated so that our babies can sleep in their own assigned cribs. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to visit, feed, and play with their babies during the working day.
TODDLER AND PRE SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Children 18 months through 5 years old are divided into classrooms by age and developmental levels. Our educational programs are designed to encourage development of social interaction, Physical skills, reading readiness, science awareness, beginning math, manners and hygiene training. Music, Art and Drama are part of our daily curriculum.
Welcome to our pre-kindergarten! We are a full day certified / licensed pre-kindergarten, offering a comprehensive, high quality, full day program for 4 and 5 year olds. Our curriculum covers all areas of study appropriate for the first year of elementary school including:
We have reviewed and expanded on the curricula of the public schools in the Columbus area and have incorporated the best from each for our program. We offer a variety of experiences from large groups to individual, one on one activities for each student. Hands on, authentic activities are the core of the program.
Because of our location, City Kids Daycare provides the opportunity for many field trips to cultural, educational, and fun locations in the downtown Columbus area. We also encourage parent participation in the classroom, and have an active parent group.
We hope that you can take the time to visit and evaluate our quality kindergarten program. Feel free to give us a call or e-mail to arrange a visit.
Below you will find images of our children engaging in the following activities: playing a memory game, completing a dot-to-dot worksheet, working in the science center, reading books in the reading center, and working in the writing center.
The Memory Game
The children use this game to reinforce memory and placement.
The Science Center
The students are working with scales. They are trying to balance the scales using a number of objects including pennies and nuts. We discuss what makes one side of the scale higher and how to make them even. The children are free to explore the center when they choose! They have discovered many tricks to balancing objects such as placement and using combinations of objects. We add new tools to the science center regularly. The kindergartners use hoops to separate and categorize objects - an example being the variety of shells and nuts available at the Science Center. The students also love to use the magnifying glasses to get a better look at many things.
The ABC Rock
The Worksheet (Rocket dot-to-dot)
The kindergartners do one or two worksheets a day. This reinforces a variety of skills depending on the academic focus of the day. The children love to do dot-to-dot with numbers and letters! It’s a terrific way to incorporate recognition.
The Reading Center
The students love to read! They practice with the “Sunshine Reading” series. We do individual and group reading on a daily basis. Reading and pre-reading are a part of practically every activity we do.
The Writing Center
The kindergartners use this center to practice their writing. They can write anything from their own words to words displayed around the room.
Summer Program for School Age Children
We offer a full summer program specially designed for children ages 5 through 8 years old. The children are encouraged to participate in many organized activities including reading, games, computer skill development, outdoor play and field trips. The field trips include COSI, the Columbus Art Museum, the Columbus Zoo, Metro Parks, Metropolitan Library, the YMCA for swimming lessons, the Ice House for ice skating, the Arena Grand for movies, Ben & Jerry’s for a treat, the Ohio State Fair, and many more. We work to provide a summer full of fun, intellectual challenge, physical activity, and friendship in the midst of the rich environment of downtown Columbus.
